One of the first towns in this area, which obtained status of town in 13rd century. Chateau was Renaissance rebuilt in 16th century and it is typical sample of North Renaissance. After burbing in 1641 it was partly barouque rebuilt. Other important buildings gothic church from 15th century (Renaissance rebuilt) or Empire town hall. Bruntál is also important starting-point of trips to are of mountains Hrubý Jeseník and Nízký Jeseník.
